Progress on bathroom renovation

Hi all,

Not much progress on the novels, but the bathroom renovation is progressing. The rough in plumbing inspection PASSED. Have drywalled the space and the florr tiles will be done this coming week. Had to rehinge the doors on the tall storage cabinet and am now concerned I may have gotten ahead of myself with drywalling, as (apparently) I needed a rough in electrical inspection first.

Have a call in to the inspector (who has seen all the wiring and even commented on it, and suggested one change) when he did the plumbing inspection. Sure hope I don't have to tear the drywall down at this stage.

Bright shiny objects again – the master bath renovation this time.  The strange corner, intruded upon stealthily by the sloped 2X4s of the slanting ceiling above the stairs from the entryway - what to do????

I have now framed and covered (in plywood of suitable thickness), then torn down, reframed and again covered … then still done it once again!!! It ended up a total of three complete, frustrating efforts, until my frustrations with these recurring efforts became evident to upper management. Back to square one, we have decided to go with the simplest approach, cover those 2X4s with wallboard, then install brackets and glass shelves. I can’t wait to see if I’ll be frustrated by an endless series of glass shelf designs.

There has been but very little work on the first novel; none on the others.

Continued updating the drafts of chapters 6 thru 15, adding hooks, dialogue, and tightening up wording. It is a slow slog at best!

On the environmental green front the following is reported – growing things in the yard include cucumber, lettuce, and cantaloupe seeds sprouting; strawberries, boysenberries, grapes, and blackberries forming; tomatoes, basil, and onions sprouting. Among the critters sighted: robins and rabbits; squirrels, sparrows and salamanders; cardinals and chipmunks; finches and fish; and chickadees and chipmunks. Glad we don’t use chemicals.

The wife, as my oldest frere would put it, received flowers yesterday from a patient. I never received flowers in any of my jobs. Hmm … does that make me a bad person, or just underappreciated?

Achieved two important milestones in the shiny object department:  achieved a weight goal of 180 pounds, and completed the installation of Reflectix ® radiant barrier on the roof trusses of our garage and house attics.

At the volunteer job I was able to do some very rough updates to segments of Golden Gate ©.

The blog may suffer a change in appearance as selected Amazon.com “widgets” are inserted to foster publicity and eventually generate a revenue stream. Does anyone have a device to count mils?

Those shiny objects - I continue to delay any substantive work on Golden Gate © as I do yard work, the attic effort and continue nibbling on the master bath, so the goal of publishing via the blog on Black Friday may be a too hard objective.

That shiny object again; this time is was installing Reflectix ® radiant barrier in the garage attic. It took about three slow weeks, as the space was cramped, I’m old , and the weather varied from frigid to cold to warm, to roasting, Now, with offspring’s’ help, it was completed this very morning. Now the larger house attic awaits.

I still hope to work on the rewrite of Golden Gate ©.
